What Is Sober Living?

Sometimes also called a “recovery home” or “independent living,” sober living offers an opportunity for you to live independently in recovery with support from staff and house managers who have themselves recovered from drug or alcohol addiction and from peers who are in the same situation as you. This creates an environment of understanding and camaraderie—everyone striving toward a better future.

A Supportive Place to Focus on Your Recovery

Our experienced teams of on-site staff will support you in your recovery journey by providing you with structure, compassion, and accountability throughout your treatment process and fostering the strength, perseverance, and life skills that will make you successful when you leave a Refresh Recovery Residence. We provide transportation to your addiction treatment, recovery groups, and 12-step meetings. Our house managers and staff are always available to help you work through the questions and obstacles that come naturally in recovery.

Supportive Place

Our sober living homes are overseen by house managers, and they do have some rules to help keep everyone safe and support the recovery process. They might include things like:

  • No drugs or alcohol on the premises
  • No overnight guests
  • Participation in randomized alcohol and drug screenings

Every sober environment is different. If you’re interested in learning more about the Refresh Recovery Residence rules, contact us.

You’ll also be expected to contribute to the house, just like you would in your own home. That may mean participating in things like chores and household activities.

We believe in peer-led accountability and host weekly community meetings led by appointed community leaders for residents. We also offer in-house 12-step meetings once a week with outside speakers invited to share their stories. And to help the community come together and show how much fun can be had in sobriety, we plan bi-weekly activities on the weekends. We’re a community that cares about your sobriety and believes in your future!

A Comfortable Place to Focus on Your Recovery

Learning to live in sobriety is challenging in itself. Having a safe, comfortable place to live allows you to focus on what matters most: your recovery and the skill-building that will allow you to live life to the fullest. That’s why, when you’re with us, we provide an environment that fosters independence while making sure you feel secure.

Our sober living homes are spacious, with plenty of room inside and out to interact with your housemates or take time to yourself. There’s wi-fi throughout, flat-screen TVs, and cable. You’ll find fully equipped kitchens, comfortable common areas, and living spaces separated by gender.

There’s a lot more to our recovery homes. Learn what to expect and see our residences here.
